MNS threatens to "beat up" Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhatt

We will also thrash Pakistani artists, said a MNS leader

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) issued fresh threats on Monday to filmmakers Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt, saying that they would beat them up if they continue to work with Pakistani artists, reports Indian Express.

“We had appealed to film industry not to work with Pakistani artistes in the wake of the Uri attack. However, Bhatt and Johar have not given a positive response to our appeal,” head of MNS Chitrapat Sena, Amey Khopkar said.

While Karan Johar has come under fire for casting Fawad Khan in his upcoming production, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Mahesh Bhatt recently tweeted a picture in favour of peace that drew a lot of criticism.

“If they work with any Pakistani artiste, they should be prepared for a befitting response from us,” Khopkar added.

In response to the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India after the Uri attacks, MNS had given a 48-hour deadline to Pakistani artistes to 'leave' India and demanded that Fawad and Mahira Khan's scenes from upcoming films Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees be cut out.

“We have not received any written assurance from either Shah Rukh Khan or Karan Johar (assuring that Pakistani actors won’t be taken in their movies). Our agitation over banning Pakistani actors will go on. We will oppose their films. If these two films release, we will stall the release. Our workers are ready to go to jail. We will stall the films in our ‘style’,” Khopkar told a TV channel.

“If Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt even dare to make a film with Pakistani actors in the future, we will beat them up on the streets. We will also thrash Pakistani artistes,” he added.

Karan Johar has maintained silence on the threats, and Bhatt took to Twitter to announce his intention to do the same.

Is there any way to prevent these goons from making stupid statements that tarnish the image of India as respectable nation in the world?

Its a charged up atmosphere these days. The best is to make general patriotic statements, keeping safe distance from Pakistani artistes. Like what Amitabh said today. As for Pakistani actors, keep away from India for sometime. Hope you understand. There are bigger and more important things than a movie.

India is really being 'ruled' by an outdated culture that hasn't changed and is far behind 21st century thinking.

@Yousefzai Boss...Seriously!!! Please don't make comments about India without knowing what real India is. If losers like them represent India, then I guess its safe to say that Zaid Hamid represents Pakistan.

when they cannot dare to stare right into the eyes of our army men these so called patriots make such petty claims. it's like banning Pakistani artists from working in India is equal to winning war with Pakistan. very childish approach.

@a that is a really silly comment. What do artists have to do with terrorism??? Everyone should condemn terrorism but at the same time they should also speak out against thugs like these idiots that are talking about thrashing decent folks like Karan Jigar and Mr. Bharat. This whole talk of kicking out Pakistani actors is due to the narrow minded thinking of the Indian media and some of the cheap organizations like RSS and their ilk. I have many Indian friends who are for peace with Pakistan so don't try to speak for everyone. The Indian news channels like Aaj Tak and others don't deal in reporting the truth. They should start making soaps instead.

@shopman I totally agree with ya. I have a lot of Indian friends who are like family. We should not make assumptions. There are jerks on either side but we also have a lot of decent folks. We should learn to live peacefully instead of making jingoistic comments.

MNS is born out of another criminal organization called Shiv Sena. All they are good for is fomenting trouble for their legitimacy in a cosmopolitan city like Bombay.

What I would really love to watch: Put all the extremists from both sides - MNS, LeT, Bajrang Dal, JeM, etc - in one room and let them duke it out with each other instead of spewing their venom on regular people. Never gonna happen of course because they are all cowards who would rather hit soft targets like civilians.
