Model Rachel Gill is making her film debut in the upcoming historical action drama Saya e Khuda e Zuljulaal and has big shoes to fill.

She is playing a character inspired by Mughal-era legend, Razia Sultana, who was the first female ruler of the Delhi Sultanate.

"My character is called Razia Sultana. She is a strong woman who lives life on her own terms. She has a powerful stature in society and holds the [power] to fight against injustice and wrongdoing while staying within the system."

Rachel says signing onto the film was a great decision.

"My experience of working on this film was great because it's a challenging role and I got a chance to be a part of such a big patriotic historical film. The entire team was so professional; they knew exactly what they wanted. We all worked very hard and it's a big privilege for me [to be part of such a great project.]"

The film, framed as tribute to historical heroes, is essentially a patriotic film.

"Saya e Khuda e Zuljalal is about Pakistan's [birth], how we got our homeland, the number of sacrifices our nation made. It's full of emotion, drama, love."

directed by Umair Fazli, the film stars an ensemble cast that includes Javed Sheikh, Moammar Rana, Arbaaz Khan, Rambo, Shafqat Cheema, Nayyer Ijaz, Firdous Jamal, Noor Bukhari and Jia Ali.

The film's release date is yet to be announced.

Razia Sultana was not of Mughal era. She was a delhi sultanate ruler of slave dynasty....long before the coming of mughals.

Calling Razia Sultana a Mughal era legend is inaccurate only by 296 years!!!! Razia died on October 13, 1240 and Babur, the founder of Mughal empire born on February 14, 1483, and laid the foundation of Mughal dynasty in April 20, 1526

Weird - Razia Sultana has nothing to do with patriotism or Pakistan! Whoever the ignoramus who conceived this erroneous idea is trying to corrupt history. But then we have done so all along anyway.

Razia Sultana ruled Delhi 200 years before the Mughals. Her story is one of my favorites from the Indian comic series. 'Amar Chitra Katha'. She is the one remarkable ruler of the Delhi Sultanate who was renowned for her tolerance. Sad she got killed early on and never got a chance to realize her potential due to treachery in a male dominated court. The Indian Archaeology Department is still hunting around to locate her grave.

The lack of scholarship in the south asian media is so frustrating. The article starts with saying - "Mughal-era legend". My dear writer, Razia Sultana belongs to Ghulam dynasty, which was in 13th century, around AD 1250. While Mughal dynasty started in 16th century, around AD 1520 or so. There was a "300 years" difference between Razia and Mughals arriving in India.
