Did you know? Arshad Warsi will star with Amitabh Bachchan in Aankhen 2
Heist thriller Aankhen (2002) is getting a sequel with Amitabh Bachchan and Arshad Warsi in the lead.
According to Indian Express, filmmaker Anees Bazmee will be directing the film. The cast also includes Anil Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Ileana D’Cruz in lead roles
Aankhen starred Akshay Kumar but the sequel has Arshad Warsi in his place. Director Bazmee explains there is a reason as to why the casting is different and one would have to watch the film to know why.
Bazmee is excited for this film to hit floors and says that he is in it only because Big B is in the lead role. "The biggest motivation to do this film is Amitabh Bachchan who I haven’t directed in my life yet. So it was my dream. Then there is Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Arjun Rampal. It is a big film with a lot of stars and I am one of those few directors who still works with an ensemble star cast," says Bazmee.
Bazmee also gives a little intel as to where the film will begin from: "Amitabh is the same person. He has lived in jail for 14 solitary years and he has spent time reflecting about life. So when he gets out of the jail is where the story takes off from."
However, Bazmee made it clear that it has no relevance to the Hollywood hit Ocean's Eleven. According to him, "Aankhen 2 is not inspired by Ocean's Eleven. Ocean’s Eleven was a different picture. Except the casino background, I don’t think there is going to be any other similarity."
The movie will go on floors next month, with shoot locations ranging from Mumbai to South Africa to London.
