Imagine Amitabh Bachchan playing the role of Morgan Freeman.

In the latest East-West collaboration, Anil Kapoor has been approached to remake blockbuster Red for Indian audiences, reported Hollywood Reporter.

Entertainment company Lionsgate has teamed up with Kapoor's studio AKFC Network to co-produce a Hindi version of the film. The film was a hit at the box office and has a stellar cast including Burce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban and Mary-Louise Parker.

"This successful movie that boasts a huge multi-star cast is perfect for India as it has all the elements our audience loves - action, drama and comedy mounted on a huge canvas," said the Bollywood actor.

This is the first joint venture between AKFC Network and Lionsgate, however, this is the second film the Canadian-American company is co-producing a Hindi remake of in India, the first being Brother, which was a remake of Warrior.

"We’re delighted to partner with our friend Anil Kapoor, a huge brand name with Indian audiences, in the remake of our box office blockbuster Red,” said Lionsgate executive vp of international sales Wendy Reeds in a statement.

Reportedly, the film is set to start production in August 2016. AKFC Network previously signed a deal for a Hindi remake of Fox's TV series 24. The show is now on Season 2.

@Muhammed Ali, NO. But people will love it and that's what counts. This is business not art completion.

Red was a boring movie so was Red 2. They banked on big names to make money but like someone said this is a business not art, we will surely see an Indian remake of it. Although Anil Kapoor with Sri Devi (probably) a song or four would be interesting.
