LSA noms revised: Ahmed Ali Butt gets his wish, Ali Safina not so much
Awards always manage to create a ruckus among celebs and this year's LSA nominations were no different.
When Ahmed Ali Butt was announced as one of the nominees for Best Actor in Jawani Phir Nahi Aani, the actor wasn't pleased. In fact, he requested the jury to remove his name from the list as he felt he played the role of a supporting actor rather than that of the main lead.
The actor uploaded a status on Facebook requesting the jury to reconsider their decision.
In the same vein, Ali Safina, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Jalaibee, hinted that he should've been nominated for Best Actor.
Upon re-consideration, the jury discussed all outstanding issues and unanimously agreed to move Ahmed Ali Butt’s nomination from Best Actor to Best Supporting Actor for his role in Jawani Phir Nahin Aani. Danish Taimoor has been nominated as Best Actor for his Wrong Number performance in his stead, according to a press release.
Ahmed Ali Butt was grateful to the LSAs for this move.
However, Ali Safina was not as lucky, as his request for the withdrawal of his nomination was not honoured. This year, the Best Supporting Actor category will include six nominations, including the Jalaibee actor.
