Gypsy is not just another drama about wailing women, says Mira Sethi

Mira Sethi has made the unexpected transition from journalist to actress with aplomb so far — and she isn't showing any signs of slowing down.

She's currently appearing in two shows on air, Jhoot and Ab Kar Meri Rafugari and has now started shooting for her next. Sethi will be seen in Siraj-Ul-Haq's upcoming serial, Gypsy soon, alongside Adnan Malik and Sanam Saeed.

Talking to Images, the rising star shares, "The most interesting thing about Gypsy is how all three characters are almost in a race to sacrifice deeply held longings for the sake of someone else's love. In that sense, although Adnan Malik's character is the obvious 'gypsy' in the story -- he's a photographer, a nomad -- my character as well as Sanam's are gypsies in their own way, in their desire to detach themselves from the people they love most.

"It is a baffling, maddening, and ultimately very sweet love triangle," she adds.

While Pakistani dramas are often accused of showing one-dimensional damsels in distress, Mira assures Gypsy is unique.

"Most Pakistani dramas are centered around wailing women but Gypsy is different. It's about three strong-willed people struggling to understand the nature of their own yearning."

The show is slated to go on air by the last quarter of 2016.

The language is no where mentioned in the news item. As I live abroad I am interested in knowing if the play is in English as its name suggests; or in Urdu that I understand less.

Why do they not make dramas about poor people and their trials and tribulations, it certainly gets tiring watching dramas about rich people and their petty issues, all they do is pout and hold mobiles phones in every scene.
