Wait, what? There's going to be a Bollywood-themed amusement park in Dubai

Visitors will shoot dacoits on the Sholay ride, and feast like a king at the Mughal-e-Azam restaurant!

Trust Dubai to come up with a thing like this.

A Bollywood Parks is in the making, and it's an amusement park "built and designed for the billions of Bollywood fans living in close proximity to Dubai," says CEO Raed Kajoor Al Nuaimi.

Just what will Bolly fans do there?

Well, there's a Sholay ride for starters, where they'll get to shoot dacoits, and the Don ride, where they'll be chased by the police. It's up to visitors to decide which side of the law they want to be on!

Then, there's the Mughal-e-Azam restaurant, which ups the ante on fine dining and promises a shahi or royal dining experience.

What's Bollywood without its music, and the park also delivers on the song and dance front. At the Rock On stadium, there will be live music, dancing and DJs, a train top is being constructed to serve as a performance stage (Chaiya Chaiya, anyone?) and Bollywood musicals blaring hit numbers all day.

The parks opens its doors in October.

Fantastic idea for keeping Dubai's till ticking...This will be massive...Looks gigantic...As an Indian I feel so proud of my more than 5,000 year old heritage...Thank you god to have not sent me to be born in countries where you have to live on borrowed heritage and your real heritage is deliberately killed.

Now India and their strategy is coming of age. I can only smile at the minds who conceived it. Though it will be altogether another challenge to scale it and make it a must visit in a lifetime facility. If they can create the lifecycle of visits from 4/5 years old to 15/17 that would be an achievement

@Hocane - not to forget South America. Bollywood is huge in South America. Probably even more than Africa. It's also gaining a lot of ground in Australia. I have been to cafes in Melbourne where they have "Bollywood Thursdays" every week.

India's so called SOFT POWER has been imported by the world for thousands of years. Budha's philosophy spread to China, SE Asia, Japan, upto borders of Iran, without killings or any taxes(Jazzia). It's religion was excepted by ancient Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Burma again without any violence. The trend continues.

It would be kinda boring since there are only two main themes of Bollywood movies. Love and revenge. So every ride will be either of the two. As for the restaurant, there are dime a dozen of them in Dubai. But let's see

What most of you don't realize is that Indian movies and cultural programs are popular in many countries in the world in all continents but only among Indians, Pakistanis and other desis congregate. The general population in these countries couldn't care less.
