Did you know? Swedish rapper Elliphant shot a video in Pakistan

Elliphant was in Islamabad recently for a concert with Diplo and shot the video over the course of a day

Swedish rapper Elliphant did more than just perform at the Diplo concert in Islamabad earlier this year.

Before she left, she also shot a video of 'Spoon Me', a track off her recently released album Living Life Golden.

The video sees Elliphant in the company of "three beautiful and brave people," Veena, Saima and Zaini.

"I was planning on trying to make a video for 'Spoon Me' while being [in Islamabad] for a massive performance with Diplo some weeks back, but I didn't know what or how I was going to make it special," Elliphant told Vice. "But when I met the girls I knew they would star in it and give it that realness I always look for in my videos. We made it in one day and everybody involved did an amazing job… Blisseh."

The video was shot over a course of a day, revealed the director Shahbaz Shigri in a Facebook post that announced its release. Shigri shares directing credits with his wife Aisha Linnea.

As an advocate for rights of sexual minorities I find the video very disappointing. Stereotypical dancing role is given to transgenders. I expected a lot better presentation for them .

Except for the Pakistani flag the video shows the Indian culture. ? Nobody paints forehead in Pakistan. Where do you see elephants in Pakistan except for the zoo?

Dawn could have made a slight effort to understand the lyrics before posting the video -- the article would have sufficed here. We are still struggling with a lot of things -- publicizing work of foreigners to the right wing of our society should see some scrutiny, if we are to continue playing host.

I suppose this is the irony that creative music video with not sociocultural boundaries can be made in Pakistan but staring foreign artists not Pakistani since we are wrapped up in these norms like a spider's web and so confused among FATWAS that creativity is somewhere in corners around us but we can't access it! Great work you all and indeed would love to see more work of her with Pakistani people. Well done.

@abdul, it is something big for Pakistan that foreign song is shot here. We like these kinds of song if shot in Western countries, what's wrong if they did it in Pakistan.

Thanks for shooting it in Pakistan. In Western countries, people start confusing Pakistan with Afghanistan now and they think women are kept at home all the time. We need to change ourselves and try to become modern. WE also need diversity in our society and need more foreigners to change our mindset.
