I had to refuse PK because of Kapoor & Sons, shares Fawad Khan

The actor was offered the role of Sarfaraz in the blockbuster, a role that later went to Sushant Singh Rajput

We know that Fawad Khan is a hot commodity in Bollywood. But did you know that the actor had to turn down a role in Rajkumar Hirani’s blockbuster PK because of Kapoor & Sons?

“When I was approached for it, I completely lost my mind because I had gotten such a good opportunity but unfortunately I couldn't commit, as I had already given my dates to Kapoor & Sons. I only let any opportunities go when I am aware of all the aspects, but I regret it when I have to give something up due to commitment issues, which is what happened in the case of PK,” shared Fawad in an interview for his upcoming flick.

The Khoobsurat actor was offered the role that later went to Sushant Singh Rajput; he would have played Sarfaraz, the Pakistani man in the film, who falls in love with Anushka Sharma’s character.

The film, starring Aamir Khan, went on to become the highest-grossing film in the history of Hindi cinema, collecting more than Rs.300 crore at the box office.

Oh well, no harm, no foul. We're excited to see Fawad in Kapoor & Sons, which has been directed by Shakun Batra and also features Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra, and releases on March 18.

Sarfraaz was not the main lead. Why cant Bollywood give Fawad Khan the main role in the movies? I know because they wont.

@Aamer I think that boy Fawad is doing well. He gets paid very well. He had no problems finding a house in Mumbai. Knowing that he was a Pakistani the brokers were overwhelmed by the number of people who wanted to let their houses on rent to Fawad. Are you guys aware of this? If there is a negative news you pick it up, but guys this is a fact. Adnan Sami in his initial days had no problem finding a home on rent here. Once in 2005 a Pakistani from Lahore was deputed to our Mumbai office in our company. Can you imagine the number of people who wanted to host him every evening! He couldn't refuse anyone. Even the receptionist was in line. These are stuff which you wont hear or read anywhere. But this has happened. That accountant was earlier deputed in Bristol and he was given a choice - either to continue in Bristol or Dubai or Mumbai. That Pakistani man chose Mumbai. Im sure he and his family will remember and talk about India for a long long time.

Then PK would have flopped with Fawad Khan.

@Aamer ... Too right. I don't think India is ready yet to watch a Pakistani playing a hero / saviour. But then again, neither is Pakistan fully. But it’s getting there. We all really liked Bajrangi Bhaijan here ;)

He is a good actor and instead of trying to make quick money in Bollywood, he should look for challenging roles. He is capable and Indian public is broad minded enough to go watch his movies if they are good.

@sachin What about the poor family from Pakistan, who had to sleep on the foot path? No comments now right?

The truth is it was not because of 'schedule' but because it was not a lead role :)

@Aamer . Thats right. Look what happened to others. Ali Zafar, imran abbas, mawra hocane to name a few. These top Pakistani actors go to bollywood and end up losing their aura even back home after doing sub standard roles. Now fawwad khan is looking to go down the same path with these sub standard roles.

I wasnt knowing that Fawad khan is that much popular and busy that he had to refuse role of a guy who had to come , ride bicycle and buy ticket for girl thats almost all. He seems to be bigger perfectionist than Amir khan, he wants to work with full attention even the side role.

@Aisha Absolutely agree with Aisha. Bollywood is attracting Pakistani actors just so that they can sell their films in Pakistan (and the films don't get banned). They are not offering any respectable or meaningful roles to these stars. While Bolloywood itself is rife with nepotism and family connections where the likes of kapoors, kumars, chopras and deols offer little space to outsiders

I think working with Aamir would itself be a great honour no matter even if it was a side role but it's his decision to make why is everyone bothered aboutique him he is not a Kid

Guys, every woman and her mother is crazy about Fawad in India. He has in a small way the same gleam as Shahrukh.

@KnowTheTruth That is true everywhere... These are private organizations why would they give up their position to entertain outsiders like us?
