It's official: Priyanka Chopra joins the cast of Baywatch

Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson took to Instagram to announce Priyanka Chopra's casting in an adorable video, calling her "the biggest star out of India, one of the biggest stars in the world!"

The action star also joked that he'll have his "hands full," to which Chopra responds, "Oh, you have no idea!"

"She's mean!" Johnson says. "I'm really mean," Chopra adds.

The cast start shooting next week and the movie has a tentative release date of May 19 next year.

According to Entertainment Weekly, she'll be taking on the role of oil tycoon Victoria Leeds, the film's official villain. She’ll be starring alongside Dwayne and Zac Efron, as well as leading ladies Alexandra Daddario, Ilfenesh Hadera, and Kelly Rohrbach, the latter of whom will play C.J. Parker, the role held by Pamela Anderson in the TV series — this movie may as well be called Baewatch!

It's just natural for humans to look for better prospects. Indian stars look to Hollywood for a better future just like the way Pakistani actors strive to break into the Indian film industry.

To be on Baywatch to look like Pamela Anderson is below PC. Pamela was nothing before she started in Bay watch with no experience in Hollywood. Priyanka should have refused this role.

Any barriers for South Asians, other than Indians, to act in Bollywood movies must be removed. Imagine if these barriers had been in place before Partition. Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand would not have been Bollywood stars. Partition may have created political barriers but it Partition should not be barrier for the free exchange of culture and ideas.

I like Prianka but she is playing the bad guy which means she is not the Heroine. Same with Depika she is one of the girls in the movie XXX not the main lead. But lets see, I cant wait to see their movies.

@Turan Quite simple why. Men are more powerful in Hollywood, and while some of them may have inclinations towards men [wink wink] most are the kind that would rather rub with females. And these BW women have a way with men - appearing submissive etc. It won't last long, or it will shift the way of Ms S Leone
