Reham Khan bounces back: Upcoming TV talk show 'Tabdeeli' promises change

Former Mrs Imran Khan says she's back on TV because Pakistan deserves honest journalism

It's happening, people!

In a newly released promo for her upcoming talk show Tabdeeli, Reham Khan promises to make a difference.

"Everyone wants things to change," says Khan in the promo as she strolls around Pakistan Monument in Islamabad. "But very few people want to change themselves."

"People change their outfits and their faces, but almost never change their mindset," continues former Mrs Imran Khan. "My mission is tabdeeli and I am Reham Khan."

The TV show is set to run Monday through Thursday, and comes nearly two months after Imran Khan and Reham Khan created waves by announcing their decision to divorce after being married for less than a year.

Rumours and controversy followed the revelation, with some accusing Reham of attempting to hit the PTI leader and others claiming she had asked for a large payout. During this time Reham stayed away from Pakistan, preferring to spend time in England, where she spoke out via British papers Sunday Times and The Guardian. “I was told specifically by a senior adviser: they basically wanted me to be in the kitchen, to be cooking chapatis and not to be seen ever again,” Reham told the Sunday Times.

A few hours ago, Reham tweeted that she was hosting Tabdeeli to bring 'honest journalism' to Pakistan. Reham has been open about her criticism of the media, especially media coverage surrounding her divorce from Imran Khan.

She brought change in his life, from an ordinary reporter to 5 million a month and after couple of months she will switch to GEO with more hike. See, just 10 month stay with Imran Khan changed your fate.

She invites controversy. Always wants to be in the limelight. Many journalists doing honest journalism without the hoopla she creates.

This is no bouncing back; such "tabdeelis" are there in the titles of scores of other political talk shows like "khara sach", "naya Pakistan" etc etc. I have seen her interviews earlier and saw her speak; there was nothing original or particularly different about it. Sure, she will have a talk show, after getting divorced, but she carries no other weight except for blackmailing Imran Khan for revealing anything real or cooked up.

So, she has hijacked Imran's favorite verbal "Change" as Tabdeeli? Imran has failed to bring any change so far, even in KPK. His slogan of New Pakistan is also deep bogged to the limit that, he has stopped even talking about it. Let us see what Reham brings in her own version of "Change", through her new media appropriately named Neo.

People want change in Pakistan but they don't want to change themselves is an honest and true comment. The otherwise progressive Imran Khan who wanted Reham to remain in the domain of kitchen was a big mistake since she could have proved a pillar of strength for him to reach the top. However, she can still make a career for herself and prove to Khan of his folly of leaving her.

what exactly you have in mind? We would like to hear the changes you want to see in the country but please bring something positive and don't waste our time. We would like to have best hospitals, best schools, best transportation system, best infrastructure (roads) , electricity/water at nominal rates and corruption free society but no one wants to pay taxes. There are things easy to say but hard to do. Now how the government can provide these facilities without collecting any taxes. Borrow funds? Its not a good option because we are already overloaded with loans. Good luck

Guys, judge her after her per performance. I admire her for having the courage in our heavily male dominated society. Media at the moment is leaning towards one party and visibly against the libral parties. If she brings about investigative journalism in fashion rather than comedy shows then she would have brought about tabdeeli and should be judged accordingly.

Nice to see her back. She needs to take a decent approach to her future assignments. But it appears to me that she has a plan to tweak around and be a little bugger. The title of her show "Tabdelli" suggests to this. Probably she needs more time to learn form her life stories. Wishing her the best and good luck.

If she can provide "honest journalism" it would be a welcome change. All the other things, like her character and how much money she is making, don't matter.

Mrs. Khan is an intellectual and most people cannot identify with her. Some people are even threatened by her rebellious nature. In this male chauvinist society, she is a thorn in the path of many people with vested interest. But she is a lioness who will defy any and every adversity. You go girl!

Would be interesting to know who is really behind this program. She became a household name due to Imran. No one knew her even in Pakistan. When a friend told me that Imran is marrying her and I asked ' Reham' who?? She is good talker but that is not journalism. Journalism does not exist in Pakistan anymore. For that matter, even world over journalism is rare.

Irony is she had to use name slogan of tabdeeli to sell her program. WhT is it. Slogan is a challange or comparison of her struggle vs Ik? She doesnt even come close to what he has done. Kumuz kam naam hee tabdeel kar leytee. In between her views were very good in show but lacking practicality
