Patari makes good on royalties promise

The music platform is distributing royalties worth Rs1,250,000 to the artists it hosts
05 Dec, 2015

Music platform Patari completes its first quarter today, and is doling out royalties to the rune of 1.25 million rupees to the artists it hosts.

Patari was created to not only meet Pakistani's online music listening needs "in a legal and commercial manner", but also to help "
artists earn what is rightfully theirs."

The royalties are being distributed among Patari's entire roster of artists, according to the number of plays their songs received.

"Our kitties apologize to any artist whose payout is not enough for their retirement to a tropical island of their own, but hey, this is only our first quarter," read Patari's press release in its signature tongue-in-cheek style.

Patari's announcement was met with praise on Twitter.

How do they make money? They don't charge me anything for using their app.

This is the only life line to revive music industry. Since the culture of concerts has almost been dead due to security reasons, this is the only way Musicians can earn. Youtube is another source for earning but a ban isn't helping at all. In times like these, Patari deserves the utmost respect of every Pakistani Music fan. Cheers

@Waseem Malik the founders are funding it themselves... Must be burning through cash like anything.... Paying for all that storage and bandwidth and then royalties.... At the moment they are hoping to grow enough to start charging for a premium service and prove a business case to get some funding..... Saavn is what I pay for and use....
