Ali Amin Gandapur, federal minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, you owe Pakistan an apology.

If you don't know why, watch this video posted by journalist Mansoor Ali Khan.

And read these replies by the respectable minister.

Gandapur is bobbing his head to the beat of 'Shenai' by DJ Kantik while his son drives the vehicle and two other grown men sit in the backseat. Putting aside the strange music choice, the son in question doesn't look a day over 10, let alone 18 years old. But then the law doesn't apply to our ministers, especially when they're on their own land, apparently.

It seems that the minister doesn't know that the law applies to you wherever you are, be it your own home, your own office or out in public. Committing a crime on your own land doesn't make it any less than a crime.

In essence, what Gandapur wants is for us to shut up and leave him and his child to their driving lessons. But Mr Gandapur, you seem to be forgetting that you need to be 18 years old to get a driving licence permit in this country. That means you shouldn't be behind the wheel before you turn 18. Of course there is the inevitable argument that everyone tries their hand at driving before turning 18, but we can assure you that no one let us before the wheel when we were 10 years old. And for good reason.

We shouldn't have to spell it out for you, but we will anyway — that is a CHILD driving, not a teenager about to turn 18 in a few months. What possible justification can you have for allowing a child to drive when three apparently able-bodied adults are there to drive instead?

Should we instead “upgrade our knowledge” as the minister so arrogantly put it and "mind our own businesses" rather than discussing "non-issues and personal issues on which we have have no knowledge"? It is after all, his land, his vehicle and his son. But perhaps we aren't the ones who need to grow up.

Ali Amin Gandapur, you us all an apology. You are a public servant, elected by the people of Dera Ismail Khan to represent them. You have absolved yourself of all accountability here but please remember, Mr Minister, you are accountable to the people of Pakistan.

What you do in your own home is your own business until you violate the law, the same law you have sworn to uphold as a federal minister and member of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

No one is above the law, be it you, your son or the rest of your family. You are a public servant, one who is answerable to the people of Pakistan, so when a citizen of Pakistan questions you about you breaking the law, you do not get to tell them to mind their own business. This is not your personal or private matter, as you so mistakenly believe. This is a public servant breaking the law and endangering the lives of four people.

If your son had lost control of the vehicle, which could definitely have happened given that A) he's a child and B) he wasn't driving slowly, would you have said the same thing to the person he hit? Would that person too be told to mind their own business?

We aren't the only ones who are appalled by the minister.

Most people were astounded by the privilege and arrogance in his tweets.

Others wanted his justifications to stop.

Some were questioning his parenting skills.

Of course, we're all just "jealous" of him.

Or maybe we're questioning what a public servant is doing breaking the law?

We should probably stay in our lanes and stop questioning the honourable minister.

If he hadn't endangered at least four lives, we would be laughing too.

It might not even be his land!

To conclude: Ali Amin Gandapur, federal minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, owes Pakistan an apology.

So many countries as advanced as in US, Underage 16, even 12 years old drive even heavy farming machinery. It's just that simple if the property is owned by you and is closed to public, His kid is free to drive if he feels kid is trained and he feels it is safe. Ha Haaa!

Also, if the said ministers 'kills' someone on 'their' land, then the government should mind its own business, right? Lastly, the blame is squarely on all the TV anchors, journalists & analysts. That Madressahs should be above law as they are established by Maulana, their students should study what Maulana decides and not the government and he is free to use the students to break the law whenever he decides. You need to be eligible to handle a motor vehicle which is above 18.The child is not responsible for his acts but an adult who's responsible for the child is also responsible for the act of the child as well. Mr. Gandapur endangered the life of the child as well as other people who could have been hit by this car. When there is no accountability and no enforcement of rules and law of the land, this behavior is not surprising. (Please not that recently what Mrs. Kashmala did to save her son and how law enforcement responded and what our justice system did). This behavior is unfortunately not restricted to only Mr. Gandapur. In this "Gandagi" all of this so called "upper class" is entangled. Food for thought: (1) Federal Minister Ali Amin Gandapur thinks it is ok to let a 10-year-old drive a car if it is on his own land. He wrongly believes or pretends to believe that the traffic rules do not apply on his lands. (2) Federal Minister Tariq Bashir Cheema ordered health workers to vaccinate his whole family including the young ones at his home while no other person under the age of 60 is being vaccinated as a matter of policy. On condemnation he says, let them say or do what they can, I don't care. (3) Chief Minister Punjab, Usman Buzdar, creates a new post for his retired police officer uncle Ameer Taimur and appoints him as director of special branch, South Punjab. Mr Taimur has also been involved in a bribe case concerning the issuance of a liquor licence to an under construction hotel in Lahore.

first of all there is no such thing as "my land" in a sovereign state. you are a "subject" of state, the state is not object of "your land" but the sovereignty of state overrides it. it is leased to you for 99 years for.a.reason, with condition of it being extended only with the pleasure of state not an automatic right. if state decides tomorrow that you are a person-non-grata, strips you of your identity and abandon you; you will lose everything. you have your fundamental rights but they are not above the sovereignty of state. once you challenge it, rest assured you will find yourself stateless the next day. of course all of this in a civilised 1st world country. of course you will have had already 2 more passports; but I dare you to say and do the same in States or anywhere in developed world.

Then I realized, while the above argument is true, who is responsible for safety of the child? If this isn't reckless endangerment of child based on decision taken by parent, then what is it. The child should be taken away from the minister as looks like the minister is not capable of raising a child without endangering him.

@Dr. Ahmed No Sir you are totally wrong . In civilized society children are taken away from parents if the children are in harm ways even in their house and with their parents ! Civilized works and we are not !

It is an internationally accepted norm that a underaged individual can operate a motor vehicle on private property without a licenses especially under the supervision of his/her parent. I am not aware of any law in Pakistan to the contrary, if there is please share details of this law.

This is the real face of Pakistani politicians , they thought , breaking the laws , is their birthright. Prime minister is habitual of talking about human rights, equality, follow the state laws, now people are waiting for his actions , what he will do. Preaching and Practicing are two different things

@Ahmed Shah - “Prime minister is habitual of talking about human rights, equality, follow the state laws, now people are waiting for his actions , what he will do. Preaching and Practicing are two different things” Monarch IK is dream merchant , he sells what people want to hear and see. Reality on the ground is another story - it’s bitter .

His son, his land and his car is his responsibilty. I learnt to drive in a field when i was 15. Was not allowed to drive on the road till i got my license at 18. Twitter brigade loves to hate and chastise.

License regulations and traffic laws are applied on public roads. Assuming it is the same under Pakistani law, if this is his private land with no public access then indeed it is no one's business. No law is broken.

There are 2 different issues. the 1st is that driving with a licence on public road which the child was not doing so that does not apply here the 2nd whether at 10 year old child was put in danger by handing over a motor vehicle which could turn into a lethal weapon . Law does not wait till someone is killed by somebody's illegal action.16 year old under age is different than a 10 yr.old. 16 yrs.old may drive with supervision ,a 10 yrs. Old should not be sitting in Driver seat.the state is the sponsible for the child,'s welfare anywhere in the land whether on the road on private property.

Some Anchors do make a mountain out of a molehill. This is a perfect example. If no law is violated and no one is harmed, then leave the kid alone with his dad. Focus on more important issues.
