Bushra Ansari's new ad shows that dadis just want to have fun
Bushra Ansari is awesome.
She is self-assured and accomplished. And looking at her wearing whatever she wants, laughing, even rapping and busting a move to Dadi Cool for a new Waves ad makes us feel a little less scared about moving past our 20s.
Admittedly, the execution was a little cringey and the styling could've been much better (what was up with those shoes?!), but we're so here for women of all ages letting loose, having fun, even redefining what it means to be a 'dadi'. Why do television commercials show all dadis as the same - reserved and conservative - anyway? Dadis, too, just wanna have fun!
Ansari has always been vocal about bearing the brunt of ageism in the industry, often brushing off critics by saying "I'm young at heart, that's what matters."
On a recent show with Nida Yasir and Javed Sheikh, the Udaari actress really drove home the point that age is just a number to her, in case the naysayers were confused: "Honestly, in order to keep your heart young, it's important to change your mindset in reality. For example, people like me, Behroz (Sabzwari) and Javed, we don’t say things like “haye, meri qamar” or anything. This one time at a shoot, we were supposed to sit on a takht all night, probably until 6 am and that’s when I said that I now remember how old I turned on my last birthday because of the backache."
"But then there was a female co-star with me who was around 22 and she was complaining about backache as well and I said, why are you complaining?"
