After more than three years of near-total silence, Shamoon Ismail has resurfaced, and very much on his own terms.

On New Year’s Eve, the ‘Marijuana’ singer wiped his Instagram clean, deleting all previous posts and replacing them with a single photograph of himself and a message that read like a comeback announcement and a handwritten letter to fans.

Addressing concerns about his long disappearance, Ismail reassured his followers that he was “feeling great,” explaining, “I was in a transition.”

For listeners who’ve followed his career, that transition hasn’t been entirely invisible. Last July, Ismail shared photographs that appeared to mark his marriage, along with a caption about stepping into a new chapter — both personally and musically.

At the time, he spoke about change, growth and moving forward, offering one of the few glimpses into his life during an otherwise quiet period.

In his New Year’s note, he added, “I have always done this with utmost honesty and truest expression,” framing his public absence as part of that same commitment to sincerity. While he may have gone quiet online, Ismail said he’s been active behind the scenes, sitting with stories that even those closest to him haven’t heard yet. “They’re about everything I am and have been.”

The post naturally reignited speculation about new music in the comments. Ismail’s last release was Scars & Screws, a project steeped in vulnerability and emotional rawness — qualities that now seem to bleed into his latest reflections.

Though he stopped short of announcing a release date or project, his closing lines felt deliberate: “I think it’s time to share everything with you.”

For now, fans are left with patience and cautious excitement.
