Big news for fans of brainiac Malcolm and his chaotic family, characters from the iconic early-2000s sitcom Malcom in the Middle are set to return to our screens after a 19-year gap for a four-part miniseries titled Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair.

The trailer, which dropped on Monday, revealed an April 10 release date as well as juicy details about the setting of the new series which will be available on Hulu and Disney+.

Set over a decade after the original series ended, Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) is all grown up and living a happy life with his daughter (Keeley Karsten). It opens with Muniz speaking into the camera, saying, “My life is fantastic now. All I had to do was stay away from my family!”

The joy is short-lived though, as he has to face a reunion with his family for his parents’ 40th wedding anniversary. Having spent several years in hiding, the former child prodigy is fully unprepared as he is pulled into the chaos.

Alongside Muniz, Brian Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, who played Malcolm’s parents Hal and Lois, will be returning to their original roles.

Chris Masterson and Justin Berfield will be reprising their roles as Francis and Reese, while Dewey will be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, according to Variety.

Linwood Boomer, who crated the original show that aired from 2000 to 2006, is onboard as a writer and executive producer. Cranston will also be executive producing the new miniseries, which is directed by Ken Kwapis.
