Apple is releasing a glorified $150 sock bag in collaboration with ISSEY MIYAKE

We can't tell if this is a joke or they're being serious...

Have you ever wanted to hold your iPhone in a glorified sock that costs $150 or approximately Rs42,000? Well, we’ve got good news for you — Apple, everyone’s favourite capitalist enterprise, has just released a Pocket for your iPhone with Japanese designer ISSEY MIYAKE.

The ‘Pocket’ is basically a small sack you’re expected to shell out $150 for to lug your phone around. If you don’t want your phone hanging from a sock around your wrist, you can opt for the long version, which can be slung around your body, and pay a mere $230 or Rs65,000.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, Apple said it was “inspired by the concept of ‘a piece of cloth,’”, with its “singular 3D-knitted construction designed to fit any iPhone as well as all pocketable items”.

The Pocket goes on sale from Friday and will be available at select Apple Store locations and on the company’s website in France, Greater China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, and the US.

We can’t tell if this is an incredibly early April Fool’s joke, because the design description is even funnier than the product. “Born from the idea of creating an additional pocket, its understated design fully encloses iPhone, expanding to fit more of a user’s everyday items. When stretched, the open textile subtly reveals its contents and allows users to peek at their iPhone display. iPhone Pocket can be worn in a variety of ways — handheld, tied onto bags, or worn directly on the body.”

So basically, a bag that looks like a sock. Sometimes, the jokes write themselves.
