It seems as if Arshad Nadeem is Pakistan’s special reserve for erasing all of the nation’s trauma and bringing us some happiness and pride. The Olympic champion threw a massive 86.4 metres to win gold in the men’s javelin final at the Asian Athletics Championship in Gumi, South Korea, on Saturday.
Nadeem’s triumph marks the first time Pakistan has won gold at the Asian Athletics Championship in 50 years — this man has made it his mission to keep making us proud.
Nadeem, who holds the Olympic record after throwing a monstrous 92.97m at Paris 2024, narrowly missed breaking the championship record of 86.72m, but worry not, the whole nation can’t help but fawn over his victory, and rightfully so.
