Vikrant Massey announces break from acting ‘until time deems right’
Indian actor Vikrant Massey, who gained critical acclaim for his role in 12th Fail, announced a break from acting “until time deems right”.
In an Instagram post, Massey said, “the last few years and beyond have been phenomenal” and thanked each and every one of his fans for their support.
“But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a husband, father, and a son. And also as an actor.”
The Sector 36 actor said that in 2025, his fans would meet him for the last time, adding that the coming year would showcase his last two movies and many years of memories.
“Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted.”
According to the Times of India, Massey made his acting debut with the 2007 television series Dhoom Machao Dhoom and gained widespread recognition for his role in the 2008 drama Balika Vadhu.
He started his Bollywood career with the 2013 film Lootera alongside Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, however, the independent series A Death in the Gunj in 2017 propelled his career to new heights.
The actor then garnered critical acclaim for his films Chhapaak, Haseen Dillruba and 12th Fail among many others.
Last week, he won the Personality of the Year award at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). On receiving the honour, he discussed his approach to choosing projects, expressing his preference for “entertainment and inspiring cinema.”
Speaking to Indian media, Massey said, “I always try to work responsibly. Whether it is 12th Fail, Sector 36, or The Sabarmati Report, there is always an effort to entertain people while also being part of responsible cinema.”
