Explosion reported outside Indian rapper Badshah’s Chandigarh club

Explosions occurred outside two clubs in Chandigarh on Monday night — the Seville Bar and Lounge, owned by rapper Badshah, and the De Orra Club, Indian media reported.

According to NDTV, Chandigarh police suspect it to be a case of attempted extortion. CCTV footage from the area revealed a man throwing suspected crude bombs outside the clubs before fleeing.

The explosions caused damage, shattering the windows of both clubs, however, no injuries were reported.

After receiving the information, the Chandigarh police and senior superintendent of police (SSP) reached the location, Indian officials said.

As police continue to investigate the extortion angle, there is also suspicion that there was a dispute between the partners of the two clubs, NDTV reported.

The Seville Bar and Lounge was unveiled by Badshah in December, 2023. The 39-year-old rapper also co-owns two other establishments, Sago Spicy Symphony and Sidera.
