‘Don’t be an idiot, children are not TOYS:’ Shaniera Akram blasts Feroze Khan for driving with his daughter in his lap
If there’s one thing that ticks activist Shaniera Akram off, it’s people violating basic road safety rules. She hates it when people drive without their seatbelts and necessary safety measures to prevent road accidents. She won’t spare anyone, not even actor Feroze Khan, a video clip of whom she shared on Instagram and said she feels “sick to her stomach on the stupidity of some people”.
On Friday, the activist shared a clip posted by Humaima Malick of Khan driving with his daughter on his lap. Sharing that to her Instagram stories, Akram wrote, “Why don’t they get it through their thick heads! this is DANGEROUS and putting your own child’s life in jeopardy.”
Stating facts, Akram said that if any car hits you, even if it’s going less than 30km/h, the child on your lap will be flung from your arms and get injured. “If your child survives, chances are they will have hit their head so hard they will have a brain injury for life. Why, WHY would anyone ever even risk that? Your child doesn’t know what’s right, but you do! Don’t be an idiot, children are not TOYS!” she said.
She said she’s sick of this behaviour and finds it rather absurd that people don’t use basic common sense. She suggested Khan put his seatbelt on and keep his kid in the backseat, instead of his lap.
She also clarified in another Instagram story that she has “nothing personally against any celebrity or influencer” and that they can post whatever they like.
“But if and when they blatantly do dangerous things that puts children’s lives at risk and post them doing it its not ok and I can not ignore it. If you are in the public eye, you have a responsibility to the public. You actions influences fans to think what you are doing is ok. Putting your life and children’s lives at risk is not ok EVER!” she exclaimed.
For Akram, if children are at risk of being harmed, she feels no mercy when it feels to blast someone, rather she feels “morally obligated” not to remain quiet.
“The tiniest little bump to the car can set the airbags off so fast and without warning. If your child is in the front seat or on your lap, the air bags can be fatal to an unbuckled child,” she said.
Earlier this year, Akram told off Minal Khan and her husband Ahsan Mohsin Ikram for not following road safety rules. At that time, Akram had said, “Come on guys, you’re famous, and have millions of followers, is it too hard to be a little bit more responsible? Put your seatbelt on and eyes on the road! I’m sorry to say but that wont be as cute if she’s singing it in the hospital.” In the video Minal shared, she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt while in the front passenger seat.
