Ushna Shah reveals ‘industry secret’, says most people in it are frauds
Actor Ushna Shah experienced a “breakfast epiphany” recentlyand what better place to share it than on Twitter, the land of floating thoughts? The actor let her followers in on a secret, as she called it, claiming that most people in the industry are fake.
On Monday, she talked about how things are not always as they appear. “Can I tell you guys an industry secret? Most people in it are frauds. Most things are an illusion. When there is a lot of hype there is often (not always) less talent to back it up. It’s smoke and mirrors. It’s PR. It’s set narratives. The crowd follows where it’s strategically led,” she wrote in a tweet.
Under the same tweet, she shared a part two explaining that this viewpoint of hers is not just limited to the entertainment industry but applies to society at large. “This was just a random breakfast epiphany that fraud isn’t just a thing, it’s almost everything and it has seeped into all forms of show business be it films, TV, ‘humanitarian work’ or sports. The ratio of scams to authenticity is.. sad and a bit demoralising,” she said.
She isn’t the first celebrity to talk about the change needed in the industry. Actor Zara Noor Abbas brought up the blatant sexism that treats her different than her male costars, actor Sabeeka Imam called out nepotism in the entertainment industry setting unfair advantages for some, model Eman Suleman held the entertainment industry accountable for letting sexual harassers get away with it without any repercussions and actor Komal Rizvi said she is inspired by no one in the industry because money is what controls them all, they would endorse anything for money.
