Superfandom is hosting a charity auction for flood refugees with Mehwish Hayat, Kumail Nanjiani and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy
General attention may have shifted away from the floods in Pakistan but the people affected by them still need your help in getting their lives back together. Superfandom, “an end-to-end concierge service for the Metaverse”, is arranging a charity auction for flood victims in Pakistan in collaboration with actors Mehwish Hayat and Kumail Nanjiani, and Oscar and Emmy winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
On Friday, they shared the news on their Instagram story captioned, “Our supercommunity member Superfandom is raising funds for the 33 million plus displaced flood victims.” Under the title were photos of Hayat, Nanjiani and Obaid-Chinoy, who re-shared the story on her Instagram. The auction is seemingly scheduled for November and further details are available on Discord.
They shared the same poster as a post and wrote, “Come join us and these amazing icons to help rebuild the lives of 33 million people displaced in the flash floods. Get exclusive access like one-on-one Zoom calls, unique merchandise and more. Join our Discord for details.”
On Superfandom, creators issue special NFTs to their superfans, going beyond digital art or collectibles. These NFTs are like tickets or passes, that enable real-world and virtual experiences with creators. It’s a new way for creators to cultivate their fandoms.
Tens of millions of people have been displaced across Pakistan as we continue to suffer the effects of widespread floods that have ravaged a third of the country. The government of Pakistan declared the situation a “climate-inducted humanitarian crisis of epic proportions”. If you wish to help in any way, you can refer to our extensive list of organisations.
