Pakistan celebrates footballer Nadia Khan for leading the women’s team to victory against Maldives with her four goals

The tides are turning for the Pakistan women’s national football team. After an eight-year drought, the national team not only scored, but scored well — seven to zero — in its match against the Maldives. Four of those goals were courtesy of British-Pakistani footballer Nadia Khan.

On Tuesday, Pakistan’s game against Maldives ended in a landslide victory in their last Group A match of the SAFF Women’s Championship at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Nepal’s Kathmandu. This is their first win since 2014 and their biggest ever, having opened the tournament with losses against India and Bangladesh respectively.

Pakistani Twitter is over the moon to see our girls win and they’re cheering the team on. They congratulated the women and particularly praised Khan’s performance.

They’re excited about the team’s progression.

And Khan is also looking forward to soaring higher.

The team seems stronger, with better strategies to tackle their opponents.

Go team!

Congratulations to the Green Shirts and Khan on her haul!
