Bollywood’s Richa Chadha wants you to know she’s marrying Ali Fazal, not Ali Zafar
Bollywood’s Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal are all set to tie the knot next month. The couple revealed their marriage plans years ago but kept postponing their big day due to the pandemic. It seems the wait has been excruciating for fans — so much so that someone forgot which Ali Chadha is marrying.
The now deleted tweet was posted by an Indian journalist Prashant Jain of Navbharat Times who had accidentally tagged singer Ali Zafar instead of the Mirzapur star. Responding to him, Chadha tweeted, “Ali Zafar is a Pakistani singer/actor, who is already married,” along with a thinking face emoji.
Zafar hasn’t responded to Chadha’s tweet — and to be honest, he doesn’t have much to respond to. The journalist quickly deleted the original and corrected it with Fazal’s username, announcing their supposed wedding date. As per Times of India, the couple will tie the knot on October 6 with a reception the next day in Mumbai.
Earlier this year, Chadha revealed in an interview with News18 that she and Fazal plan on getting married soon. “I think shaadi ho jaegi iss saal. Kar lenge kisi tarah se [We will get married this year, will marry somehow]. We’re very excited to get married but [we are] just worried about Covid and want to be responsible. We don’t want to be in the news for the wrong reasons. Plus, we’ve both gotten really, really busy when stuff opened up, and work resumed at full pace. So I’m saying we have to like do a live production job of taking combination dates and making this happen this year,” she said.
On the work front, Chadha and Fazal will soon share the screen in Fukrey 3. She will also be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next Heera Mandi. Fazal will be returning this year as Guddu Bhaiya for the third instalment of Mirzapur which releases next month.
