Arooj Aftab wore Hussain Rehar to the Grammys and we can't keep calm

Brooklyn-based singer Arooj Aftab scored her first Grammy, making her the first Pakistani to have won the award. What caught our attention was not just the golden gramophone award she held for the very first time but her outfit — a long violet jacket with a golden brooch and a sparkly blouse.

On Monday, April 4, the annual awards were held in Las Vegas where many stars including Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion and BTS walked the red carpet and also won awards. While their sparkly and sleek outfits made it to best dressed lists, critics missed out on Aftab's violet handwoven silk jacket by Payal Khandwala paired with a Landeros sequin blouse and satin black pants by Hussain Rehar.

The 'Mohabbat' singer was nominated for two categories; Best Global Performance — that she won — and Best New Artist. As she walked up to the stage to receive the award, we got a complete look at her outfit. The singer paired the look with neutral makeup and a messy bun. But that was just look number one.

Aftab wore an all-black outfit to a Grammy afterparty that was entirely designed by Rehar. According to the designer's Instagram post, it's a "quintessential sherwani" that was inspired by Aftab's very own album Vulture Prince.

"The artwork on it looks like a trippy motif from afar but if you look closely its constructed with different sized birds intricately embellished and put together with sequin ,thread and mukesh detailing in various colours. It was created in about 350 working hours with keen attention and precision," Rehar wrote. He also complimented Aftab and said she rocked the look.

While we appreciated her purple jacket, we really loved the look of the afterparty outfit and wish she had worn that to the main ceremony. The purple jacket was a nice pop of colour but we really enjoyed the intricate detailing on her second outfit. To be fair though, we just love Hussain Rehar's creations so anything by him is a win for us. Seeing a piece of clothing by a Pakistani designer at an event like the Grammys is a win, even if the designer didn't create the full look.
