What's Abdullah Siddiqui up to after co-producing Coke Studio?
Coke Studio ended on Tuesday and Abdullah Siddiqui — Coke Studio Season 14's associate producer extraordinaire — now has all the time in the world to do a fan Q&A on Instagram.
Siddiqui co-produced many of Coke Studio's iconic tracks this season, an endeavour that kept him pretty busy. "To anyone who’s been wondering what I was doing for most of 2021... I was associate producer on the upcoming season of Coke Studio under the guidance of Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan," he'd announced back in January before Coke Studio began.
With the show done and dusted now, it seems like the musician isn't sure how to spend his free time. When a fan asked him what his "life's purpose" will be now that "Coke Studio's out and done", Siddiqui replied with an "Uff I have no idea".
It seems like Siddiqui is a changed man because of the music platform. Is post-Coke Studio Abdullah stronger, wiser and more musically gifted than pre-Coke Studio Abdullah?
The musician isn't done serving us music in 2022 just yet. He has an upcoming album coming out later this year and interestingly his Coke Studio song 'Go' with Atif Aslam is the first single from that album.
The upcoming album will also include a collaboration with 'Joona' singer Hasan Raheem. Now that's exciting.
Siddiqui has mostly sung in English so far. When a fan asked him whether there will be "more Urdu stuff" in his upcoming projects, he replied in the affirmative. "There is one song entirely in Urdu in the next album," he said.
Is there a collaboration with singers Faris and Meesha Shafi as well, someone wondered. "Give the people what they want," Siddiqui nudged the two and floated the idea their way.
You heard from Siddiqui folks, Coke Studio isn't the last we'll be hearing from him in 2022. We're curious to see (or rather, to listen to) what his upcoming album has in store for us.
