Quetta Gladiators' Jason Roy smashes his way into Pakistani fans' hearts
The PSL isn't only a cricket competition where some of the finest players in the world compete against each other — it's also a breeding ground for memes. On Monday, the match between Sarfaraz Ahmed's Quetta Gladiators and Shaheen Shah Afridi's Lahore Qalandars stunned most fans and it was all because of Gladiators opener Jason Roy. Of course, a meme fest ensued on Twitter.
One Twitter user reminded everyone that "Jason Roy is the first batter in PSL history to score a century when chasing a target of 200 plus."
Another had a good night's sleep thinking of the misery of Lahore fans frightened by Roy's inning.
Meme-makers also joined the conversation and this user shared a pictorial representation of what Sarfaraz must be feeling.
Another Twitter user shared what they thought the Qalandars must be thinking.
Two users mocked Afridi's team for taking their own score lightly.
Even Altaf Hussain made it to the memes.
People had some ideas about Roy and Sarfaraz's pre-match strategy.
Or Roy's in particular.
Roy had hit eight towering sixes and 11 boundaries in 116 off 57 deliveries, leaving the Lahore Qalandars and their fans gobsmacked. Though the team reached a score of 204, it didn't save them from Roy, a batsman who was there to perform.
