Cristiano Ronaldo lights up Burj Khalifa with girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez’s face for her birthday

Cristiano Ronaldo sure knows how to make a grand gesture — he proved it by celebrating his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez's birthday at the Burj Khalifa, making the world's tallest building light up with his partner's face. He got the custom laser show to feature clips from Rodriguez's latest Netflix series I Am Georgina and gathered his kids to celebrate the occasion.

"Muitos parabéns meu amor, [Happy Birthday my love]," the Portuguese footballer captioned an Instagram post with a video of the spectacle.

Rodriguez's sister seemed as incredulous as she herself must have been. She commented, "De verdad???? INCREÍBLE!!!! Gracias, cuñado, por esta sorpresa para mi hermana [Really? INCREDIBLE! Thank you, brother-in-law, for this surprise for my sister]."

The couple was celebrating Rodriguez’s 28th birthday and the Netflix series about her life, I Am Georgina. The football star made sure to feature her name above the clips from her show on the iconic tower which ended with a message that read "Happy Birthday Gio" in giant, white letters.

Overwhelmed, Rodriguez penned a thank you note in Portuguese in an Instagram post that read, "This exciting day is over, I cannot articulate words, thank you, thank you, thank you Cristiano Ronaldo. You make me happier every day. Thank you Dubai for always treating us so well and making us feel at home. Thanks to all of you who have worked to make this day so special. And thank you for always rejoicing in my happiness and that of my family. I love you with all my heart."

Reports suggest that a three-minute promotional ad or message on the tower costs over AED 250,000, with a spike in costs during the weekends. However, for Ronaldo, this amount may seem like nothing, considering the fact that he's got the top spot on the list of world's highest-paid football players.

Rodriguez couldn't help but post more from her special day. In an Instagram post captioned "Dreams come true", she posted photos of her teary eyed next to Ronaldo, the cake cutting and the family dinner in front of the tower.

The football star is currently in Dubai with his family, taking a break from the Premier League.
