Deepika Padukone to perform own stunts in upcoming film Pathan
Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone is no stranger to performing her own stunts in movies. In fact, she revels in the opportunity to see some action firsthand — and she'll be certainly seeing some in her upcoming movie Pathan, which also stars Shah Rukh Khan.
Bollywood Hungama reported that Padukone will not be using a body double in Siddharth Anand’s Pathan and will be performing her own stunts. The actor was a national level badminton player in India and is known to be very athletic.
Is this the first time Padukone will be doing her own stunts? Not at all. According to Bollywood Hungama, the actor performed some martial art stunts in the 2009 movie Chandni Chowk to China, which also starred Akshay Kumar.
Chandni Chowk To China director Nikhil Advani had said, "There were some scenes that we thought to be too dangerous. But she insisted on doing away with the body double and also the wirings. She's very athletic, it runs in her family. Then there was Akshay Kumar to inspire her. Akshay had done so much on-screen action. It was a novel experience for Deepika and she sailed through the action. She worked really hard to get the posture and power in the action scenes."
In 2014's Kochadaiyaan, Padukone once again stepped up and performed a 10-minute stunt without a body double.
Pathan will also reportedly see Khan perform some risky stunts of his own. According to earlier reports by News18, Khan plays a RAW agent named Feroze Pathan in the film and will be joined by John Abraham as well as Padukone.
