Hadiqa Kiani is releasing her first single 'Humsafar' from her upcoming album Vasl tonight
Musician-turned-actor Hadiqa Kiani is reminding us that she may be acting these days but that doesn't mean she has abandoned music. She's back with a bang in the form of a whole album. Kiani announced the release of her first single from the upcoming album Vasl today at 7pm on YouTube.
The 'Hona Tha Pyaar' singer posted the update on her Instagram account, thanking her fans for being on this journey with her. "I’m headed back to my roots," she said, attaching a very album cover worthy photo of her in a look that's a mix of modern and traditional.
"The song is called 'Humsafar' and will be going live on YouTube, link to the song is in my bio," she said. She posted a full-length version of the same look to announce the news on her Instagram Story.
Kiani made her acting debut with the show Raqeeb Se this year and it's been uphill ever since. Her performance in her first drama was critically acclaimed and landed roles like Mehru in Hum TV's Dobara.
In a recent interview with Something Haute, Kiani said for her acting is a chance at self discovery or as the actor put it, a chance to "un-peel myself layer by layer". It is important that Kiani finds herself through the characters she chooses to do, characters that are drowning in "the feeling of loneliness, suffocation, [or the experience of] other people defining your life and navigating you".
Kiani told the publication that Vasl is something she really experimented with saying she "pulled it out of a tunnel within" herself.
"It is not for [everyone] but people who are like minded and like to listen to it, they will relate to it. [The album has] easy listening kind of ballads. They aren't the kind that people can dance to while playing them at shaadis. They aren't popular songs."
Mentioning that the songs are not "commercial," she said they're "just what my heart felt, things I have expressed."
