You must make haste!: Netflix regency drama Bridgerton has a release date for season 2
Netflix Regency series Bridgerton ended on a happy note for Daphne Bridgerton — one of the eight Bridgerton siblings — and her husband, the Duke of Hastings, but the story doesn't end there. Fans can rejoice because we'll soon be reunited with our favourite British family in season 2 on March 25.
While the waltzes, high fashion and romance between Daphne and Simon caught everyone's attention in season 1, season 2 is all about another Bridgerton sibling — Anthony.
The official Instagram page for the drama made a special announcement with the help of Lady Whistledown.
The story is based on author Julia Quinn's Regency-era romance novel series that has eight books, each based on one of the Bridgerton siblings and their love lives. So far, the TV show has only explored the first novel The Duke & I where Simon (Rege-Jean Page) and Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) meet in a series of lavish balls.
According to Forbes, show creator Shonda Rhimes wants you to love and give importance to new couples as you did with Daphne and Simon. While we will be seeing more of Daphne, Simon might not be on screen as the actor announced he was leaving the show. In September, Page told GQ that the show felt "like a limited series."
“No, the universe has expanded. So I’m no longer in it. I respectfully exited. I didn’t want to put them in an awkward situation where they had to kick me out," Page said. This season focuses on Anthony's quest to find a suitable wife and Eloise's quest to uncover Lady Whistledown.
In the last episode of season 1, Eloise's friend Penelope Featherington was revealed to be the much mysterious author behind the gossip paper.
In pre-Squid Game times, the drama garnered 82 million views and was the most watched show on the OTT platform. With season 2 just around the corner, we have high hopes for the show. Who knows, it might just set another record.
