Twitter users cheer on Rizwan for being the only batsman to have crossed the 1,000-run mark in a year
The T20 World Cup is over but the thrill of cricket and the Pakistan cricket team is still coursing through our veins. The team keeps finding new ways to make headlines with their spectacular work. Mohammad Rizwan has won hearts once again but this time it's not for a series of wholesome photos with his pillow.
The International Cricket Council announced that Rizwan is the only batsman to have crossed the 1,000-run mark in T20Is in a calendar year. In 2021, he has made 1,326 runs at an average of 73.66.
Rizwan's name was attached to captain Babar Azam for their opening partnerships but now the limelight is squarely on him as a batsman, which has been exciting as well as emotional for fans when they mapped out his year-long journey.
When he started out as batsman, people said he wasn't able to score sixes. The recent record he's broken meant he scored 56 sixes this year and fans are definitely counting.
Fans were not the only ones celebrating — former cricketer Saeed Ajmal quickly congratulated him for his achievement.
And we love it.
From crazy posters to celebrities posting about him, Rizwan is surely taking the internet by storm.
"Pillow man" has definitely got us all hooked.
Fans were quick to add more reasons to celebrate — Rizwan and Babar also have the highest run partnership this calendar year.
He overtook Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli too.
"RizWon" indeed!
This year may not have been the best for the general public but it definitely seemed to have been Rizwan's year.
The joy this win has evoked is contagious and we hope it catches you as well. And congratulations to Rizwan, he's crushing it!
