Saba Qamar remembers when Irrfan Khan gave her Eidi
With an outstanding career in Bollywood leading to international acclaim for his charm and acting skills in Hollywood, Irrfan Khan's demise last year weighed heavily on the hearts of fans around the world. His costar Saba Qamar remembers him fondly and recently recalled a cute moment with the star.
Sharing a heartwarming memory on the talk show Ghabrana Nahi Hai , the Maat actor recalled what it was like to be in Khan's company, miles away from home.
Revealing that she was shooting for Hindi Medium in Delhi during Eid, she reminisced about her friendship with him. "I told him that I wanted Eidi from him and he ended up giving me a note. I still have it," she said with a smile.
She then recollected how working with Khan was a beautiful memory.
"I had been his fan since childhood. I always wanted to work with him and I used to always say that if I ever got an opportunity from India, I'd like to work with Irrfan Khan — and I was lucky that the first opportunity I got was with him. I learnt a lot from him."
Khan passed away at 54 after battling medical complications arising from a colon infection. He had been battling health issues for the past couple of years, and was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer, a rare form of the disease in early 2018.
"It feels like yesterday coming back from the sets of Hindi Medium. You taught me a lot as an actor and a mentor," Qamar had mourned at the time. "Such a brilliant actor gone too soon. I'm at a loss for words," she said.
