Money Heist season 5 announced with a nail-biting teaser
The world's favourite band of thieves is back with the final season of the super hit show La Casa Da Papel or Money Heist. With its latest teaser, Netflix announced the final season will be released in two parts of five episodes each. Volume 1 will be released on September 3, while volume 2 will be released three months later on December 3.
Season 5 of the show finished production in May, it was earlier revealed, and fans have since been speculating about the release date. But their speculation has been put to rest with Netflix's Monday announcement.
The announcement came with an all new teaser, which is in slow motion throughout its 56 seconds and very, very intense. It opens with Úrsula Corberó, who plays Tokyo in the show, stepping on and crushing one of the group's infamous masks. As it proceeds, closeups of the characters add to the tension.
“When we began to write part five in the midst of the pandemic, we felt that we had to change what was expected from the 10-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself," Álex Pina, the creator of the series, said about the fifth season.
"We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting the gang on the ropes. In volume two, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”
The season comes to pick up the show from the intriguing end of the fourth season. Our thieves, who have significantly decreased in number, find still themselves inside the Bank of Spain, 100 hours and counting. While they successfully managed to rescue Lisbon, the mastermind of the heist, The Professor, has been apprehended by Sierra. For the first time in the show, he looks helpless with no apparent plan to get out of trouble this time. The pack prepares itself to fight the latest and deadliest card played against them, the military. The heist is now a war.
The numerous fans of the show are jumping in their seats and obviously can't wait. Ever since the announcement came in, fan after fan has contributed to the hype on social media.
Some fans are still not over Nairobi's death that played out tragically in the last season. The makers must know how upset it would make their viewers when they decided to do it. Though fans are yet to make terms with it, they're nonetheless excited to see what follows.
Other fans, acknowledging the show's appetite to kill off important characters, are calling for their mutually hated Arturo Roman to be given the same treatment.
There are exciting times ahead for admirers of the show. How do you think the next season will play out? What's going to happen to Arturo?
