The internet's favourite chaiwala is going global
Eighteen-year-old tea vendor Arshad Khan became an overnight internet sensation, in Pakistan after a picture of him went viral on the internet. He has channelled that fame into his business and is now ready to conquer the United Kingdom.
Following his runway debut as a showstopper for Ziggi Menswear, a UK-based menswear brand that specialises in making grooms wear for “the modern Maharaja,” Khan ventured back into the chai business and opened his own cafe in Islamabad, saying tea-making was his proud identity. His business is now growing and he's ready for global dominance with Cafe Chaiwala Arshad Khan.
"The outlets will be open in the United Kingdom towards the end of the year," he confirmed to Images. "The menu will be totally the same as it is in the Pakistani outlets," he added, revealing that he has franchised 10 outlets in the UK.
“From the staff to the construction, everything will be their's. Our standard food recipes will be given to them and the way we want the design to look.”
Khan revealed that the idea to launch the brand was his, and the rest was handled by Kazim Hassan — his "mentor, manager and brother".
He was excited to announce that he is the pioneer of a brand that has gone international and he's looking forward to the journey.
Currently, Khan has four cafes in Islamabad named Cafe Chaiwala. He also has one in Murree.
