When Priyanka Chopra's mother had a fan moment with Sheheryar Munawar

Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra's mother had a fan moment with our very own Sheheryar Munawar back when he wasn't the household name he is today.

In an interview with Something Haute where Munawar was recalling his time as an assistant director during an advertisement campaign for QMobile in 2015, he spoke about an incident with Priyanka Chopra where he was blowing out her hair for the shoot.

"I instantly died realising she knew my name," he laughed, adding that he lay down with his hand on his heart. "She then said, 'My mother is a fan of you,' and I was like huh? She said yeah, she's in the vanity, would you join me there for a bit? She wants a picture with you."

He went on to add how at the time, his play Kahi Unkahi was airing on Zee Zindagi, and Chopra's mother found him cute as a child.

"It was very interesting," he smiled at the memory, realising how Chopra's mother wished to meet a guy who at the time was running around the sets, fetching water bottles and sweeping the floors.

"I was so startled when it was happening but Priyanka was so sweet about it. She said Sheheryar obviously I know you, my mother is a fan, come with me to the vanity," he said, revealing how there was strict protocol at the set and to cross the boundary to make it to an actor's vanity was rare.

"But they were both so sweet, we clicked a few pictures, and there was that," he said. Surprisingly, he then spoke about how this entire episode was after the release of Ho Mann jahan — where Munawar was cast alongside Mahira Khan and Adeel Hussain in a lead role.

But how does one go from being an actor to an assistant?

Speaking about his journey from student to a star, and then to assistant again, the Parey Hut Love actor revealed how he graduated from one of Karachi's most reputable universities, IBA, and proceeded to work in the corporate world.

However soon, he started receiving offers from big productions after his supporting role in Zindagi Gulzar Hai, which he bagged based on the minimal VJ and acting gigs he did as a student.

Speaking about how he has come a long way since then, he recalled how Fawad Khan also gave him a tough time there, calling it one of his "terrible" pieces of work and admitting his performance wasn't up to the mark.

"I continued to be an assistant director and interned for Asim Raza," he added, talking about how desire for self-fulfilment and growth made him work on sets regardless of the work he was doing.
