From a meme to a million: Pawri continues for Dananeer as she hits 1m followers on Instagram
Internet sensation Dananeer Mobeen is continuing her 'pawri' — the unofficial substitute for the word party these days — with one million followers on Instagram.
Till 10 days ago, many people were not aware of this teenage content creator from Islamabad/Peshawar. Then came the shorter than 10-second video and the pawri has continued unabated since then.
Dananeer has gone on to appear on multiple TV shows and given interviews to local and international media groups after being propelled to social media stardom.
Another feather in her cap that she shared on Sunday is officially becoming a member of the Zalmi family. She made the announcement on Instagram with a picture of her and team owner Javed Afridi, both in Zalmi gear.
From a meme to million
The meme was already viral when Indian music producer Yashraj Mukhate made a song of it and took the pawri to the next level.
“I’m getting an amazing response," Mukhate told Hindustan Times. “It was a very fast process. I saw the video on one morning, went to my studio and created the entire mashup in two-three hours. I put it out, and it has been breaking my personal YouTube records. It’s my fastest two million views’ video."
Fast forward a week and Dananeer, who leaped to over 400K Instagram followers soon after the meme went viral, today hit 1 million followers.
"This is crazy! I'm humbled beyond belief. So grateful for all the love that I have received in the past few days," she wrote on her Insta story. "We're now a family of a million beautiful people from all over the globe."
The pawri has raged on as celebrities from both sides of the border also joined in. For now, we're going to leave you with the girl who started it all and our three favourite pawri videos by the 19-year-old.
