Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari 'touched by all the love, prayers and good wishes' on marriage
Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari got married last week amid pandemic-restricted fanfare and people have been itching for glimpses inside the many events.
But fret not, Bakhtawar promised more pictures would be released soon, and true to her word, she shared more snippets.
"We are touched by all the love, prayers and good wishes. Deciding to get married during Corona meant we were limited by the SOPs," wrote the bride on her Instagram at the end of all the festivities. "Luckily, we were able to capture our joyous times and will be sharing with you through them."
Her husband Mahmood Choudhry (who refers to himself as 'the Mr to Mrs Bakhtawar' in his Instagram bio) immediately delivered on the promise with a picture from the mehndi function.
Later, Bakhtawar shared photos of her resplendent mehndi outfit by designer Zara Shahjahan that featured personalised touches to pay homage to her late mother Benazir and the couple itself.
The mehndi event was held on Jan 27, preceded by a milad on Jan 24. Bakhtawar and Choudhry had exchanged rings in an intimate ceremony in November 2020.
Nikah
On Friday, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari shared pictures of Bakhtawar's nikah with a sweet message: "Happiest moment in many years to see my sister Bakhtawar getting married."
"Felt like our mother was watching over us in this moment of joy. Wishing them both all the best of for their new life together," said the son of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and former president Asif Ali Zardari.
The youngest sibling, Aseefa, wished the couple "a lifetime of happiness and joy" on their new journey.
The groom, meanwhile, shared images of his baraat entourage and his pugree.
The groom wore a classic off-white sherwani while Bilawal stuck with his staple: shalwar kameez and a blazer. The pictures also show Zardari in attendance.
The bride shimmered in a gold-speckled ensemble by designer Wardha Saleem.
Reception
The wedding reception took place on Saturday, and courtesy PPP politician Sharmila Faruqi's Instagram (that earlier also gave us a peek of Bakhtawar with her bridal henna), we saw some snippets of the event.
Faruqi, who we have dubbed our unofficial insider into the wedding festivities, wore a Rizwan Beyg dress.
