Remembering the brave Aitzaz Hasan on his 6th death anniversary
At a time where stories about politicians and celebrities dominate the news cycle and our social media feeds, the nation remembers local hero, a brave, teenage boy Aitzaz Hasan who confronted a suicide bomber to save the lives of his peers.
In the villages along the Kohat-Hangu road where sectarian violence and militancy is a fact of life, Aitzaz held his ground to save 700 boys in the school assembly that day, sacrificing his own life in the process.
"My cousin sacrificed his life saving his school and hundreds of students and school fellows," his cousin Mudassar Hassan Bangish told the BBC. "The suicide bomber wanted to destroy the school and school students. It was my cousin who stopped him from this...destruction."
On what is his 6th martyrdom anniversary, Twitter remembers Aitzaz fondly.
