Sacred Games actor defends Nawazuddin against #MeToo allegation

Last week Nawazuddin Siddiqui was named in the #MeTooIndia list for forcing himself on his Miss Lovely co-star Niharika Singh. However, his Sacred Games co-star Kubbra Sait has come out in support of the actor.

Kubbra took to Twitter to express that "A relationship gone sour isn’t #MeToo, someone needs to recognise the toxic difference before we go picking sides. I stand by #NawazuddinSiddiqui or #Nowaz as a man."

The actor further went on to say, "I stand by the fact that although Niharika Singh may have had a tough time in the industry, categorising her once personal relationship as a #MeToo statement is incorrectly placed. We as humans are flawed. That isn’t gender specific."

Niharika alleged in her #MeToo account that the Manto star, who she dated in 2009, was an abusive and dishonest boyfriend. She shared that she befriended Nawazuddin on the sets of their 2012 film Miss Lovely and that he forced himself on her at her apartment one day:

“One morning, when I was home and he had been shooting all night, Nowaz sent me a text saying he was near my building. I invited him over and asked him to come and have breakfast with me. When I opened the door, he grabbed me. I tried to push him away but he wouldn’t let go. After a little coercion, I finally gave in. I wasn’t sure what to make of this relationship,” she wrote.

She claims she ended the relationship after she found he was lying to her.
