Tanushree Dutta's case moves forward; police record statements

Actor Tanushree Dutta's case is making progress as the police have started investigating into the FIR she filed two weeks ago.

The latest development in the case, Mumbai Mirror reports, is that the Oshiwara police, Mumbai are getting in touch with people present during the incident ten years ago and recording their statements, the first one being actor Sudhir Pandey, the then committee member of Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA).

Pandey told the publication, “I’ve provided the cops with the facts of the case and minutes of the meeting between the complainant and the party in which the issue of sexual harassment was raised. Since the complainant had also lodged a police complaint, we followed the standard procedure.”

“The statements of those named in the FIR will also be recorded once the investigation progresses and videos of what happened behind the scenes will be recovered,” a police official said.

A source told MM that “the process of sending summons to the others is being followed”.

Tanushree filed a police complaint and subsequently an FIR earlier this month after coming out with her MeToo story. The actor named her Horn Ok Pleassss co-star Nana Patekar as her sexual harasser saying that he behaved inappropriately towards her during the film's song sequence. The incident which took place in 2008 was brushed under the rug and no action was taken against Patekar and she made no formal complaint.

The actor now seeks justice and has become the flag bearer of the movement in India.
