Keira Knightley reveals why she's banned her daughter from watching Cinderella

Keira Knightley doesn't want her daughter to watch Cinderella and she has a strong reason why.

The actor made an appearance on The Ellen Show for promotions of her upcoming movie The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and revealed she has a few rules when it comes to her 3-year-old daughter and Disney princesses.

The actor revealed Cinderella is banned because, "She waits around for a rich guy to rescue her."

"Don't [wait around]. Rescue yourself. Obviously," She added.

And it's not just Cinderella, Knightly has banned The Little Mermaid as well and with a heavy heart because she loves that one.

"The problem with The Little Mermaid is I love The Little Mermaid!" She said. "That one's a little tricky—but I'm keeping to it. The songs are great but do not give your voice up for a man!"

Not all princesses are out though. Knightley has kept some of the stronger princesses around for her daughter to watch.

"Frozen is huge. Moana, totally fine," said Knightley, also throwing in Finding Dory in the mix, which Ellen was ver happy to hear!

Well, it's worked because instead of wanting to be a Disney princess, little Edie wants to be a lion when she grows up and Keira reveals "She roars very well."

It makes sense for Knightley to want her daughter to not have such influences at such a young age. The actor will be next seen in Colette, a film based on the feminist writer Sidonie-Gabriell Collete and is also working on film Misunderstood a film revolving around beauty pageants, namely Miss World. Inspired from Sandra Bullock's *Miss Congeniality maybe?

Deadline reportsMisunderstood is based on the true story of the first black woman to win the Miss World title.
