In Batti Gul Meter Chalu's trailer, Shahid Kapoor is a lawyer fighting against electricity corruption
The trailer for Shahid Kapoor's upcoming flick Batti Gul Meter Chalu is finally here.
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh (Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story), the movie stars Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles alongside Divyendu Sharma and Yami Gautam.
Shahid plays a lawyer who takes on a corrupt electricity company in a rural area in India; he plays a laid-back lawyer whose life changes when his friend (Sharma) commits suicide under the pressure of paying a hefty amount of INR 54 lakhs as his electricity bill. The movie will tackle the subject of power outages and inflated electricity bills in India.
Yami who has a blink-and-miss appearance in the trailer had earlier shared that "it's a social drama on the electricity issue faced by people in the country, especially in small towns. You can expect a very fine amalgamation of entertainment and a relevant social issue which has been talked about for the very first time."
Also, that part where Sraddha Kapoor shows up with half curly half straight hair because the electricity went out while she was doing her hair speaks to us on a spiritual level. And we're digging her blue eyeliner!
Batti Gul Meter Chalu is scheduled for release on September 21, 2018
