Armeena Khan claps back at Boris Johnson for comparing burqa wearing Muslims to "bank robbers"

On Sunday, British former foreign secretary Boris Johnson remarked that Muslim women wearing the burka "look like letter boxes" and compared them to "bank robbers".

And Armeena Khan's not having any of it.

The British-Pakistani actor tweeted that the former foreign secretary was restricting freedom of choice by his words and dictating what women should wear.

"Yet another privileged middle-aged bloke telling women what they can and can’t wear. If a woman wants to wear a burqa it’s her right Mr. #BorisJohnson it is her RIGHT to choose which goes hand in hand with British values #therighttochoose"

She also wrote: If a woman wants to wear a short dress, it is her right and freedom to do so. If a woman wants to wear a burqa it is her right to do so. I will defend the basic principle which is the #therighttochoose #BorisJohnson

The Janaan star is one of many appalled by Johnson's choice of words. UK Prime Minister Theresa May also said on the matter, "It was the wrong language to use. He should not have used it."

Twitter users have asked for the parliamentarian to be sacked.
