I know more about physical attraction than anyone else: Imran Khan on his third marriage

Almost two weeks after Reham Khan's explosive autobiography came out, Imran Khan has now said that he nothing short of regretful of his second marriage.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, the PTI leader got candid about what attracted him to Bushra Maneka and how he ended up proposing to her.

Speaking of his third wife, Imran Khan disclosed, "I did not catch a glimpse of my wife's face until after we were married. I proposed to her without seeing her because she had never met me without her face being covered with a full veil."

"The only idea I had of what she looked like came from an old photograph I had seen in her house." He does admit that back in the 80s, it would've "have been unthinkable if someone had told me I would marry someone whose face I hadn't seen. I would have thought they were mad."

But now that he's married to her, he said, he "was not disappointed" and is "happily married."

His wife is a Sufi scholar and Imran's interest in Sufism goes back decades - that's what drew Imran closer to her.

"My interest in Sufism started 30 years ago. It changed my life,. Sufism is an order with many levels, but I have never met anyone who is as high as my wife. My interest in her began with that."

The 65-year-old said he's finally realised that there's more to a person than "physical attraction."

"I have gradually realised that although I know more about physical attraction than anyone else, actually the character of a person and the mind, the intellect, is much more important than the physical, because in my experience that has the smallest shelf life."

"That is what keeps the interest. I have great respect for my wife's intellect and character."

Imran Khan adde that his wife Bushra will not be attending any official meetings/functions if he does win the elections this year, but she doesn't seem to be too bothered by that. "She meets very few people, but it suits me fine. I am past the age of socialising. I am quite happy with this life."

After three marriages and two divorces, Imran says he has one major regret in life:

"Normally I don't say anything about Reham, but I will say this: I've made some mistakes in my life, but my second marriage has to be the biggest."
