Are Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha reuniting onscreen for Batti Gul Meter Chalu?

After Haider, Shahid Kapoor will be romancing Shraddha Kapoor onscreen once again, reported DNA India.

Though there has been no confirmation of the news yet, a source told the publication that after Katrina Kaif couldn't sign the film due to her busy schedule, the producers approached Shraddha Kapoor for the role.

"The makers recently got in touch with Shraddha. She has been briefed about the role. The producers were looking for an A-list heroine to cast opposite Shahid, who plays a lawyer in the film. However, it will require some prep. Katrina couldn't sign the film because she didn't have the time."

The storyline follows the fight of a common man (Shahid Kapoor) against the electricity board and other power distribution companies over corruption.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu is going to be a satirical film which aims to follow the same format as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. This hardly comes as a surprise as the film is being directed by the man who made the Akshay Kumar-starrer, Shree Narayan Singh.

The film is scheduled to release on Aug 31, 2018.
