Rishi Kapoor's family studio gutted in fire

Rishi Kapoor's family studio R.K.Studio has been gutted in a major fire yesterday, according to Indian media reports.

The studio, which was founded by Rishi's father Raj Kapoor in the suburbs of Mumbai, was currently being managed by Rishi's elder brother Randhir Kapoor. The studio is credited with many successful Bollywood releases, including Barsaat, Awaara, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, Mera Naam Joker and Bobby.

The fire broke out at the sets of TV show Super Dancer and was confined to electric wiring, electric installation, decoration equipment on the ground floor of the building.

The studio's "iconic Stage 1" was lost, as was memorabilia and costumes of RK Films productions. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

"The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Luckily, no one has got injured as the set was locked and no one was shooting. We shot at the location last week, and the next shoot was scheduled for September 29 or 30," news agency IANS quoted a source as saying.
