The Big Apple was lit on Saturday night as Bollywood rolled out its glamour on the IIFA red carpet.
Stars were dolled up and looked snazzy in their designer-wear at the event. But as is always the case, some get it right and some, horribly wrong.
Here is our round up of who we thought looked the best and the worst on the red carpet.
Legs for days! Shilpa Shetty is one gorgeous star. She knows what works on her body and this gold Monisha Jaising ensemble showed off her assets. The colour complemented her skin tone and the shimmer didn't overpower the dress. Total win.
This super fit Bollywood actor didn't do justice to her physique in this Gauri & Nainika dress. Narghis Fakhri is drowning in the heavy material and that piece of cloth/dupatta around her neck is just so unnecessary.
Maybe if she had left her hair open, all our attention wouldn't have gone to that unflattering neckline...
We've said this before and we'll say it again: we love that Alia Bhatt dresses her age! Her Zuhair Murad number is a timeless yet fun choice, cinched at the waist so her figure isn't completely drowned in all that volume.
Ruffles are incredibly tricky to pull off — too many frills and you risk looking like a child gone loose with a pair of scissors. And while some people do know how to use ruffles strategically, we have to say that for the most part, ruffles have become the nemesis of most celebs who've worn them, like Kalki Koechlin.
Looking at this Gucci dress is just making us hungry, it almost looks like a piece of sashimi. While we're liking the slicked back hair and her crimson pout, that dress does her no favours.
Sonakshi Sinha is working that red body-hugging LaBourjoisie gown on the green carpet like nobody's business. The sleek hair, coupled with some Chopard ear bling is on point enough that we're going to ignore that poofy shoulder thing she's got going on.
Though the actor looks good, as always. This time we weren't too sure of the black block of colour running across his chest - it made it seem like he was tied around the chest.
If summer was a dress, this would be it!
For someone who's sort of a red carpet novice, Mira was killing it at this year's IIFA Awards. This stunning yet simple bright orange Swapnil Shinde fit her like a dream and she also accessorized like a pro, without going overboard.
Some of Bollywood's leading ladies could take a tip or two from Rajput...
We have to say, this look was very Aishwarya Rai at Cannes 2017, don't you think?
However, while the icy blue outfit worked for Aish, we felt a little uninspired looking at this Ziad Nakad creation that Katrina chose. It was just so...blah. The Jagga Jasoos actor has a killer bod (who doesn't remember her abs from 'Kala Chashma'?), we wish she'd have accentuated it.
Varun Dhawan always makes an impression on the red carpet and this year at the IIFA's he impressed with his show of detail. He paired his Emporio Amrani tux with a Gucci shirt embellished with floral details on the cuff.
We also love the loose bowtie. Two thumbs up for this Bollywood hottie.
Let's be real. Cinderella dresses are so 2010, they have been done to death and Kriti Sanon's Mark Bumgarner dress looked straight out of a fairytale, in a bad way. The length of the dress is awkward, the satin off shoulder doesn't work, the pink is just.. sigh.
The longer we look at it, the more it depresses us.
We wish this beauty had gone with something like her white one shoulder gown at the Stardust Awards.
Preity Zinta looked slinky in a Gauri And Nainika black peplum and tail skirt. While not everyone gets peplum right, this star managed to ace it with a soft updo and minimal accessories and makeup.
Bips has the curves, but unlike Sonakshi, she didn't make the best use of them. The Gaurav Gupta gown made her look square-ish from the top and the shimmer didn't help accentuate her curves, rather took away from them and overshadowed her figure.
