Sridevi corrects Akshaye Khanna for calling her a 'recluse'
With Mom set for release, Sridevi is making all the headlines!
The actor, having been a superstar in the 80's, has been gaining attention for her recent work, giving a number of new starlets a run for their money. Yet, the English Vinglish actor does not seem to have the larger than life attitude one imagines from a celebrity.
According to Mumbai Mirror, co-star Akshaye Khanna commented on Sridevi's quiet persona, saying, “I thought I was borderline reclusive but Sridevi takes being a private person to a whole different level. She is the ultimate non-communicator. I haven’t seen this quality in actors in a long time. No one can be friends with us unless they have known us for years, there can never be an icebreaking moment and I love it!”
But Sridevi wants us to know there's nothing reclusive about her! It's just passion for the job and a need to paying attention to detail that has her quiet on set. “When you are a public personality, you can’t afford to be a recluse. If I sit quietly in a corner waiting for the camera to roll, it doesn’t mean that I am aloof and cut off from people. It could be that I am thinking about the shot or going over my lines,” said Sridevi.
The actor also gave the example of another co-star Nawazuddin Siddiqui, saying, “It’s the same. He also sits in a corner, learning his lines. But as soon as the camera is on, he blows everyone away!”
Sridevi loved the idea of upcoming film Mom and was immediately on board when she was given a one line pitch about the plot revolving around a mother trying to save her daughter (Sajal Aly). For the actor, it was easy to relate to the strength of her character as a mother.
"Fortunately neither of my two daughters have been in a situation like this and thank God for it." She added, “But I am a huge darpok as far as doctors, medicines and injections go. I fall to pieces when I am hurt but when it comes to my children, I am a pillar of strength, applying balm and bandages and dressing up their wounds.”
We can't wait to see Sridevi as the pillar of strength in Mom which is releasing 7th July.
